I am directed to inform that the subject matter for consideration was placed before the I* Full Board meeting, 2025, held on 21.02.2025, headed by the Senior Member, Board of Revenue, Punjab. After detailed deliberations, the Full Board decided to issue the following instructions for their compliance in letter & spirit to your offices: i. Timely payment of salaries to the village chowkidars by collecting monthly local rate of Rs. 50 per house/shop will be ensured. ii, The vacancies of village chowkidars will be filled on a priority basis.

about the amendment in In the Punjab
Chowkidara Rules, 1982 in In rules 5, 6, 7, 8, 15 and 28, for the words
"District Magistrate", wherever occurs, the expression "Deputy
Commissioner/District Collector" shall be substituted. The main content of

In exercise of the powers conferred under section 39A of the Punjab Laws Act,
1872 (IV. of 1872), Governor of the Punjab is pleased to make the following
amendments in the Punjab Chowkidara Rules, 1982, with Immediate effect:
AMENDMENTS
In the Punjab
Chowkidara Rules, 1982:
1. In rules 5, 6, 7,
8, 15 and 28, for the words "District Magistrate", wherever occurs,
the expression "Deputy Commissioner/District Collector" shall be
substituted.
2. For rule 9, the
following shall be substituted: -
"9. A monthly
rate of Rs.50/- In the case of village Chowkidar shall be levied on each house
and shop/establishment in every village to cover monthly salary of. village
Chowkidar. The Assistant Commissioner/Collector of the Sub-Division shall be
authorized to levy this rate.".
